Factors influencing in vitro embryo production

In vitro embryo production (IVP) is currently one of the most important biotechnologies in cattle breeding and husbandry. However, the efficiency of in vitro embryo production is still low with only 30-40% of oocytes developing into blastocysts, probably because, the in vitro environment cannot mimic in vivo environment and results in embryos that have altered morphology and gene expression. Se...

Enhancement of enterotoxin production by carbon dioxide in Vibrio cholerae.

We found that Vibrio cholerae 569B produced much more cholera enterotoxin in the presence of added carbon dioxide than in its absence. An atmosphere of 10% carbon dioxide was optimal for maximal enterotoxin production.

In vitro production of enterotoxin and hemorrhagic principle by Vibrio cholerae, NAG.

In vitro production of enterotoxin by Vibrio cholerae, NAG isolated from human diarrheal cases in India, the Philippines and Sudan was tested. Of a total of 41 strains tested, 8 proved to produce the toxin characterized by permeability-increasing activity in the guinea pig skin. Characterization of the toxin produced by a representative strain was also made in comparison with cholera enterotoxi...

Critical factors influencing the occurrence of Vibrio cholerae in the environment of Bangladesh.

The occurrence of outbreaks of cholera in Africa in 1970 and in Latin America in 1991, mainly in coastal communities, and the appearance of the new serotype Vibrio cholerae O139 in India and subsequently in Bangladesh have stimulated efforts to understand environmental factors influencing the growth and geographic distribution of epidemic Vibrio cholerae serotypes. Because of the severity of re...
